The Bar

Eight by ten feet, four bar stools, and
a shot waiting in a Die Trying shirt.

Slim's Elbow Room is, by its own reckoning, the World's Smallest Bar. It measures roughly eight feet wide by ten feet long, holds four to six bar stools, and serves exactly three things: beer, tequila, and seltzers. No cocktails. No mixers. No juice. The walls and ceiling are covered entirely in signed dollar bills left by visitors from around the world — a running record of everyone who's ever squeezed in.

It's cash only. There are no reservations. Country and honky-tonk music plays in the background. You will be elbow-to-elbow with whoever is next to you, which is the point. In a marina strip full of nightclubs charging cover and resorts selling $22 cocktails, Slim's is a cold beer, a tequila shot, and a T-shirt that might come with a free drink. It has 4.7 stars across 135 reviews. Some things just work.

What Is Slim's Elbow Room and Why Is It Famous?

Slim's Elbow Room is reportedly one of the smallest bars in the world — approximately 8 ft × 10 ft with 4 to 6 stools maximum. Every inch of the walls and ceiling is covered in signed dollar bills from visitors worldwide, and the story you tell afterward is the entire point.

What to Know

Dollar bills, dive bar rules — what makes Slim's, Slim's

The Concept

Beer, Tequila & Nothing Else

The menu at Slim's is intentionally, defiantly simple: cold Mexican beer, tequila shots, and seltzers. No mixers. No juices. No cocktail list. You come here to drink what people have been drinking in dive bars since dive bars existed — and you drink it elbow-to-elbow with whoever else managed to squeeze in.

The Space

Eight by Ten Feet of Legend

Four to six bar stools. Walls and ceiling covered entirely in signed dollar bills left by visitors from every corner of the world. Country music on the speakers. If you've never been to a bar where you genuinely cannot avoid talking to the person next to you, Slim's will fix that.

Tradition

The "Die Trying" T-Shirt

The house merchandise — a signature "Die Trying" T-shirt or hat — has become a Cabo souvenir in its own right. The best part: buying one frequently comes bundled with a free shot of tequila. It is both the most affordable and most memorable souvenir you'll take home from the marina district.

Location

Walk Distance from Cabo Wabo & Giggling Marlin

Slim's sits in downtown Plaza de los Mariachis, within easy walking distance of Cabo Wabo, Giggling Marlin, and the main marina strip. It works best as a starting point before a bigger night out, or as the last stop when everything else has already happened.

Before You Go

Cash, no reservations & the best T-shirt deal in Cabo

Bring cash — Slim's does not take cards. The bar is a natural stop on any walking tour of downtown: it sits in Plaza de los Mariachis, steps from Cabo Wabo and Giggling Marlin. Works equally well as a first drink of the night or a last one. If you're buying a T-shirt, ask about the free shot — it's a standing tradition and part of what makes the place worth seeking out.
